    Were so quick to judge anger, yet its a human emotion like any other. While anger willfully or physically directed toward another person is wrong, we sometimes cant control shifts into anger. Sometimes, were carried along for the ride until the anger is spent and were left to pick up the pieces.     Sometimes the pendulum can swing too far in the other direction: Any signs of anger and irritation get dismissed as just part of the bipolar, even when theyre justified.     Irritation and anger can be a normal and even healthy response to certain provocations. As with many emotions, however, people with bipolar disorder appear to be more vulnerable to extreme responses.

    You’re Just Overreacting Again

    Overreacting is a symptom of bipolar disorder, but phrases like this minimize the person’s experience of this symptom. When supporting a loved one living with a mental health condition like bipolar disorder, it’s important that your words demonstrate empathy rather than exasperation.

    Your loved one may very well be overreacting compared to how you would perceive the situation, but describing their feelings as “just” overreacting trivializes their lived experience and communicates shame rather than compassion.

    Residential Anger Management Treatment Centers

    If your anger problems are seriously affecting your day-to-day life, a residential or inpatient anger management treatment center may be indicated. The access to dedicated treatment staff and controlled conditions may be necessary if you find yourself:
