Nausea & stomach cramps, especially right after taking it. Made me into a horrible person, tbh. Always agitated, my mood swings were as worse as ever, snapped and picked arguments with people. I’ve RARELY done stuff like this but I was literally so agitated and depressed on this medication that it felt almost uncontrollable. Can’t wait to taper off of it completely.

How Does Sertraline Work

Sertraline increases serotonin, a potent neurotransmitter, in your brain. With higher levels of serotonin is thought to come feelings of wellbeing and happiness. It does this by its action as a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor . As an SSRI, it blocks the uptake of serotonin into cells, thereby leaving the extracellular levels higher, which, we suspect, boosts a positive mood.

Dosage For Major Depressive Disorder

How does zoloft work for anxiety, sertraline for anxiety and depression ...

Adult dosage

  • The typical starting dose is 50 mg per day.
  • Your doctor will slowly increase your dose every week, as needed.
  • The maximum dose is 200 mg per day.

Child dosage

The use of this drug to treat children with this condition has not been studied. It should not be used in people younger than 18 years.

Senior dosage

The kidneys of older adults may not work as well as they used to. This can cause your body to process drugs more slowly. As a result, more of a drug stays in your body for a longer time. This raises your risk for side effects. Your doctor may start you on a lowered dose or a different dosing schedule. This can help keep levels of this drug from building up too much in your body.

I have aspergers, and part of that is, unfortunately, anxiety disorders. I’ve had both generalised and social anxiety since I was a child, as well as mild OCD and depression. I was put onto Zoloft to try and treat my anxiety, which is daily, unrelated to events in my life, and debilitating. I have tried a number of other methods over the years, none of which were any help. For the first few weeks on Zoloft, I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting horrendous side effects in the beginning, as most internet pages reported. As it was, I had very few. I was a bit twitchy and hyper for a few days, and lost my appetite entirely, but that passed fairly soon. For the first few weeks, I felt better. I was more relaxed, happier to go with the flow, I stopped overthinking every little thing and just took chances and pushed myself forward in ways I’d never had the ability to do. But this was short lived. The entire rest of the time on zoloft, which was about 7-8 months, I felt like a zombie. I went from feeling everything, to feeling absolutely nothing. I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t sad, I was just numb. I couldn’t get excited about things I knew I should have been hugely excite

When To Increase Your Zoloft Dose For Anxiety

SSRI Antidepressant Side Effects (& Why They Occur) | Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline, Citalopram

If youre taking Zoloft, but arent feeling any improvement in your anxiety levels, it can be tempting to simply up your dose but its important not to.

Zoloft is not an instant relief medication. SSRIs do not exert instant effects like, pain relief does. Zoloft is a little more complicated and it takes longer for its full effects to be felt.

These medications take time for their effectiveness to peak. Zoloft works by blocking the reuptake of serotonin and it takes repetitive dosing and time for the medication to be able to exert its effects on your system. It can take around two to six weeks before you start to experience a reduction in your anxiety symptoms.

If after this period you still havent seen any benefits then you may want to talk to your doctor about altering your Zoloft dose.

Ive Never Felt Like This

ive been confused, both sad and calm. Ive been on zoloft 25mg for over a month. my anxiety has calmed but i feel worse/better?

I am stuck with this weird feeling that id describe as the end line of depression. extreme suicidal ideation, but no intention. i feel like my life has already ended, im the only one alive, im alone and scared, yet calm and happy to reach this realization.

This is weird bc a huge part of my anxiety is a fear of death.

im still scared, i just feel done. i feel fake, life feels fake, i feel like im just waiting for something. I want to cry but cant. I honestly just dont know what to do with myself, mainly because i dont want to do anything anymore. im stuck inside myself and im genuinely frozen, and done.

the today version of me always feels separate from yesterdays me or even me from 10 years ago. my memory is constantly being mixed with was that a dream?

like i said, im calm and even a bit happy, just finally not as angry, and not as terrified or anxious. im sad but cant feel it exactly. im just very tired and done and theres no longer anything i want lmao.

i am ok and safe im just confused lol

Before this pill i was easily affected by every little thing a car honking at me, trash on the sidewalk.. I was very suicidal one moment then joyful another moment.. I have no control over my emotions and i am very very anxious around outgoing people. I wont say this drug makes me outgoing but its like xanax without being tired. I started out on 50mg. Only side effects are munchies and slight nausea if you’re stomach is empty. I am very pleased and am not angry or sad all the time.

Does 25mg of zoloft work for anxiety, does 25mg of zoloft work for ...

It was used as an add-on when I had Bipolar depression, along with my mood stabilizers as a test to see if it would help me more with the depression. It induced dysphoric mania, where I felt paranoid, wasn’t sleeping , and had severe racing thoughts and anxiety. I did not feel that way at all prior to adding Zoloft to my meds, and my doctor also warned me this can cause mania in certain individuals with Bipolar. Also, I had headaches and “brain zaps.” It also increased my appetite at first, but this changed once my anxiety became sky-high. Needless to say, I had to discontinue, but the recovery process from the mania took months to come down from. I’m sure this could work wonders for certain people with unipolar depression, but I tell my story to warn others with any possible Bipolar diagnosis.

Is 25mg Zoloft A Therapeutic Dose For An Adult

Question posted by Theres no place like home on 15 March 2014

Last updated on 13 November 2019 by skpifer

I’ve been on zoloft 25 mg for two years and every time I see my doc he tries to up it telling me its not even a therapeutic dose. When I started the med I was feeling much worse anxiety/OCD then I am now so I feel it has helped. I’m sure I could feel better but I am anxious to up it, it was hard enough to take it at all since taking medications is a BIG hurdle for me. I do tend to be more of a light weight. Is anyone else on this low of a dose?

skpifer

I’ve read that 25mg is a therapeutic dose. I started with Lexapro, then Cymbalta to 100mg Zoloft plus 50mg Wellbutrin. It worked for a while, then I tapered off the Wellbutrin. Shortly after that, I went from 100mg to 50mg of Zoloft. This past week, my doc told me that I can experiment and start taking 25mg every other day for 1 month, and then if I feel alright then I can take 25mg daily from then on. Everyone is different. Don’t be afraid of the side effects, sometimes it’s worth it to push through them to get the results that you want. 25mg can work for you

+0Lof

My doc asked if I wanted to try Lexapro. He said that although they were in the same class of drugs, they can work differently on different people. He recommended I stop the Zoloft and immediately start on the Lexapro the next day so that’s what I did.

How To Take And Store

Generally, expect to take Zoloft once daily, with or without food, within the following guidelines.

  • Swallow the tablets whole, not chewed or crushed.
  • If you’re taking the liquid form, combine the prescribed amount of medication with one-half cup of liquid . Prepare each dose immediately before you take it, not in advance.
  • If you forget to take a daily dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take it at your regular time. Never take two doses of Zoloft at the same time.
  • When traveling, store Zoloft in your carry-on baggage in case your luggage gets lost.
  • It’s important to continue taking Zoloft as long as your doctor instructs, even if you begin to feel better. If you abruptly stop taking Zoloft, you may experience sertraline withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, tremors, lightheadedness, muscle pains, weakness, insomnia, and anxiety.
