Pop culture and YouTube singing sensation Justin Beiber took to Twitter today to express his complete and utter disdain for cake. This was in response to recent revelations by CSI “star” Marg Helenberg on French television about his on-set antics, where he allegedly locked a producer in a closet and karate chopped a cake.
“I hate desserts yo. Destroy cakes!” tweeted Bieber. “They give you zits and then you have to use Proactive, which totally works.” he added in a follow up tweet sponsored by Proactive Solution. When we asked Bieber for a comment about his abhorrence towards cakes and all things sweet he told us: “When I was younger like two years ago and stuff, my parents like had this girl pop out of a cake for me at my birthday. She was like old, like maybe 25, and started rubbing her wrinkly body up on me and stuff. It was the scariest moment of my life. I hate old chicks. Ever since then when I see a cake I punch it, like YAAA!!”
“I hate everything about cakes.” added Bieber. “That Duff guy on Food Network, I want cut his nuts off, and that other guy from New Jersey, I want to shove a pastry bag so far up his ass. Promoting cakes, what kind of sickos are they, yo?”

The singer shared the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise on Instagram, saying, “My gramma just shared this with me. Share if this helps u.”
Both he and his grandmother are right. The 5-4-3-2-1 is useful. It is a mental game that shifts attention away from anxiety-producing thoughts by focusing, for a minute or two, on non-threatening things around you. By focusing only on non-threatening things briefly, the stresshormones present “burn off” without being replaced. At the end of the exercise, a person is able to focus on what they choose to, rather than being pushed by stress hormones to focus on anxiety-producing thoughts.
Obviously, if a person returns to the anxiety-producing thoughts, stress hormones will again be released. As the hormones build up, feelings of anxiety will return. So, before starting the exercise, plan ahead. Decide in advance what to focus on when finishing the exercise.
The New York Post picked up on and quoted Jennifer Wolkin, Ph.D. as saying I often use this with clients who are experiencing general anxiety, panic attacks, difficulty regulating emotions and even after trauma. The aptly named ‘54321 grounding technique,’ is meant to direct attention away from either a rumination spiral or physical sensations that are unsettling,”
The 5-4-3-2-1 is detailed in Chapter 17 of my book, Panic Free: The 10-Day Program to End Panic, Anxiety, and Claustrophobia. The version of the 5-4-3-2-1 Bieber offered is a bit off. The exercise is worth learning, so learn it right.

What Phobia Does Justin Bieber Have
If you are going to shake hands with Justin Bieber, make sure your hands are very clean. The singer admitted in a recent The Sunday Times profile that he hates having sticky hands and has to use a washcloth whenever his paws get dirty.
How did the interviewer broach this particular topic? Well, it was born of a chat about Mariah Yeater, the gold-digger who said Bieber fathered her son after a bathroom tryst at the Staples Center. Washcloths? Hmm, that seems a bit inefficient. Beliebers, why don’t you stock up on those anti-bacterial gels at Bath & Body Works and bring them to shows and gift the Biebs with ’em? They’re like a buck a piece, they smell amazing, have seasonal scents and are good at ridding the hands of general germs and stickiness.

Behavior Of The Group Must Be Studied
Since there are many variables, I use a number of behavioral criteria to determine if a group or a relationship is either on the productive/ benign end of the continuum or on the destructive end. I call it the BITE model and below is a shortened version of it but if you wish the longer version you can see it here.
The BITE model looks at whether a group/recruiter uses deception and specific mind control techniques to get someone involved. It also takes into account whether or not an unhealthy recruitment and conversion program is used where they cut off from family and friends who are raising questions, concerns, or doubts. I believe if a group or Church is legitimate, it will stand up to scrutiny when it involves Almighty Godhowever you understand him or her or it to be.
The divine could have mind controlled Adam and Eve to being obedient slaves, but that is not part of the Creation story. God wants us to think for ourselves and make independent decisions. Destructive cults want people to be obedient and will actually convince followers that their only salvation can come from being in their church and that all others are Satanic or unspiritual. They place an unhealthy emphasis on fear of evil over the love of truth and goodness.

Substance use and fame at a young age can also disrupt the reward system in the adolescent brain. In a healthy brain, whenever we do something enjoyable, its like pressing a button in the brain to release a little bit of the neurotransmitter dopamine to make us feel pleasure. Pushing these pleasure buttons too often or too strong reduces dopamines effectiveness. Eventually, it takes more and more excitement and stimulation to feel anything at all.
How Can We Use Bite Criteria In This Case
It would be very helpful to hear exactly about the process of Bieber coming to the decision to cancel the tour. Hypothetically, I could imagine someone like him being told by someone he held in authority that he needed to choose between the love of God or love of fame and money that to prove his faith in God, he must cancel the tour. If this occurred, it would indeed be concerning. All or nothings like this are very powerful and it was precisely this that happened to me in 1974. I was asked to throw out my own original poetry to demonstrate my commitment to God when I was a Moonie.
