What God Says About Anxiety

God Cares About Our Anxieties

What Jesus Says About Worry And Anxiety

But God is far from condemning us, frail humans. The Apostle Peter writes, Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you . The word, care comes from the Greek and means: to throw up or to place upon. It indicates that the person who is hauling around a burden needs to actively take that burden and relocate it.

In our family, we had a son who was far away from the Lord and made some unwise life choices. His father and I continually prayed for him. But it wasnt until my husband figuratively placed my son on the Potters wheel that we were free from worry.

The Bible spells out clearly the antidote for worrying. Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God . God commands us not to agonize over problems. Instead, we are to rush our troubles, stresses, and concerns to His immediate attention as Hes always available. And as we ask God for solutions, we do so in a grateful manner, showing we trust that He really will answer our prayers. Thats called faith. So simple, yet so difficult for us who want and choose to stew over problems. We worriers assume we have more power and control than we do. But true freedom from worry comes from releasing them to God.

Prayer Against Anxious Thoughts

Lord, you are a good God with good intentions behind all the works of your hands. Help me see the areas where Ive allowed lies to be sewn into my life. Once they are revealed, help me to hand them over to you and allow you to remove them from my life completely. I ask that once they are removed you would then fill the newly freed spaces with the truths of your word. In the midst of anxiety, help me always look to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Story Of Schizophrenia And Spiritual Exhaustion To A New Grace

A few years ago, someone drove two hours to meet for one of my coaching consultations. This person described their full journey with schizophrenia the debilitating anxiety, the multiple voices, and the hallucinations . This person tried every spiritual discipline and professional care, with very little progress. A mature ministry leader reasoned out that much more spiritual deliverance and work was needed to resolve his mental torment. They broke down and said to me

Im ready to give up on Jesus.

This person followed Christ since childhood, but now thirty-something, after months of wrestling was ready to leave Christ once and for all.

Heres the deal I heard a wise teacher once say,

People dont walk away from God, theyre really walking away from what theyve been taught about Him.

I didnt have a magic formula to remove all the anxiety, voices, or hallucinations I just helped this person to see that maybe they were wrestling with the wrong questions from what they were taught about God. We discussed a different lens of grace FROM within the chaos, not a grace accessed by a formula, a deliverance ministry, or some other fight the good fight measure. We reframed with everything that was right and whole, the focus fight, not the works fight. Months of wrestling ended in 10 minutes!

Overall,

fight the good fight

a full inheritance of life and a deep love from the Father that will never cast you away .

Remember How God Has Helped You Before

One of the things that can begin to change our thoughts and calm our minds is to remember the ways that God has helped us in the past. Now, some reading this may say, Im not sure that I really believe in God. Then think, How have past troubles been resolved for me? Remember those times. And since worries can be for nothing, you may also think about this: When have I worried, and what I was worrying about did not happen?

My prayer is that you would begin to see God in the blessings and help that you have experienced, but a sure way of alleviating anxiety is to remember past escapes from trouble and stress.

It is also helpful to hear others talk about their lives and how God delivered them from trouble. When you hear many testimonies of relief and provision, it encourages you to look up and start trusting that you, too, will find relief.

Do Not Fear Hes The Same God

I was reading Genesis last night and God showed me something that believers often forget. Hes the same God! Hes the same God who led Noah. Hes the same God who led Abraham. Hes the same God who led Isaac. Do you truly grasp the power of this truth? Sometimes we act like He is a different God. Im tired of many well-meaning Christians thinking that God doesnt lead how He used to lead. Lies, lies, lies! Hes the same God.

We have to cast out the spirit of unbelief. Read Hebrews 11 today! Abraham, Sarah, Enoch, Abel, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses pleased God by their faith. Today, we are looking for burning bushes, miracles, and wonders. Please understand that I am not saying that God doesnt give signs and do amazing miracles, because He does. However, the righteous shall live by faith! Without faith you cant please God.

Our faith shouldnt last until bedtime and then we start worrying again. No! God Im going to take your Word for it. Here I am God. Help my unbelief! God is trying to produce a remarkable faith in you. Some of you are in a battle right now. Youre a testimony to the world. What testimony do you give when youre murmuring about everything? When all you do is complain youre bringing out negative energy that affects not only you, it affects those around, and it affects those seeking God.

13. Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you you need only to be still.

Who Was Moses Son

What God says about Anxiety // Roger Thompson, 7/17/22

Moses first-born son was named Gershom. According to the bible, Gershom was the youngest of the two children born to Moses and his wife Zipporah, and it is believed that he received his name as a tribute to Moses father-in-law Jethro. Although little is known about Gershoms life or achievements, his existence serves as a reminder of Moses important contributions to history and religion.

His second son, Eliezer, became one of Israels greatest prophets. With a keen intellect and a clever wit, Eliezer spent his life spreading Gods word to the people of Israel. Despite fierce opposition from their peers and the unrelenting challenges of their mission, Eliezer stood firm in his faith and persevered through it all.

Peace And Joy He Leaves Us

The thing is, when we worry, we are plainly not trusting God. Failing to trust means we are missing out on the incredible blessing that await us the peace of God that passes all understanding. Can you even fathom that? Me neither.

Now Im not saying that all your problems will go away. Neither am I saying that we can simply sit back and not deal appropriately with our problems. We will continue to have problemsGod is not going to change your flat tire.

What I am saying is, we can have the Peace of Christ with us at all times in all circumstances. We may have to change the tire, but we can do it with a joy that others wont be able to understand.

Try to imagine having that kind of peace and joy in your lifein your heart, your soul. Deep down, where the real you lives. Imagine that kind of peace dominating your life? How much better would that be than the worried state in which we typically live? Not just for a moment, but for a lifetime.

Yeah. Wow.

Worrying Is Not A Sin

When it comes to worrying, Jesus isnt trying to shame us into not worrying. Instead, He is saying it is unnecessary to hurt ourselves in this way. He is offering relief from responsibilities that are not ours. While it is our responsibility to make the wisest choices with our time, opportunities, and resources, we need to realize that we are not responsible for the end results.

It is not your responsibility to win a contest. It is not your responsibility to ace every test, even if it is your responsibility to study. It is not your responsibility to make your peers happy, even if it is your responsibility to treat everyone with kindness and integrity. Do you see the difference?

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9, But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Many times, stress stems from us seeking so, so hard to do everything in our own strength. But Paul reminds us that true strength comes from God Himself. Our imperfections are beautiful opportunities for Gods grace to shine through the cracks.

Extra: How Jesus Focused His Fight The Good Fight Vs More Works To Prove His Faith

When the devil approached Jesus in the wilderness, he tried to tempt Jesus by questioning His identity in relation to his pain. If you notice, the questions were related to testing Jesus identity in order to create fear, tempting Him to prove Himself and even give up His identity for earthly glories.

The devil tempted Jesus by saying,

If you are the Son of God, then .

Jesus “fought the good fight” by resting in the Truth of who He was and His secure relationship with the Father, not by testing or proving it with works.

Jesus responded with the Truth,

It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test” .

Jesus rested securely in the true focus of who He was, His secure relationship IN THE Father, and what His true mandate and focus on earth was for for us . Thus, Jesus endured the wilderness with intimate security, not a formula of a distant God.

As a result, the devil departed and Jesus returned from the wilderness in great power .

Maybe you will return from the wilderness in great power, too!

What Does The Bible Say About Anxiety

What Jesus Says About Anxiety (and how to fight it)

He teaches us to look and learn from them, for how much more will He care for us when He cares so much for the lilies of the field? Its a reassurance that He cares about our anxieties, that they are not greater than He.

Murder, anger, gossip, lies, stealing, adultery, are all sins. Most believers would agree these are obvious on the list of bad things we shouldnt practice. But what about the subtle habits of the mind, such as anxiety? Is it a sin? Its a great question since many have and deal with anxiety. The Anxiety and Depression Association of America estimates that 40 million adults or 18.1% of the population have an anxiety disorder.

When You Feel Alone

Dear God, Thank you that you see us right where we are, in the midst of our pain and struggle, in the middle of our desert land. Thank you that you have not forgotten us and never will. Forgive us for not trusting you, for doubting your goodness, or not believing youre really there. We choose to set our eyes on you today. We choose joy and peace when the whispered lies come and say that we should have no joy or peace.

Thank you that you care for us and your love over us is so great. We confess our need for you. Fill us fresh with your Spirit, renew our hearts and minds in your truth. We ask for your hope and comfort to continue to heal our hearts where theyve been broken. Give us the courage to face another day, knowing that with you before us and behind us, we have nothing to fear. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Get Your Thoughts Under Control

Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. And do what you learned and received from mewhat I told you and what you saw me do. And the God who gives peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:8-9 ERV

Believe it or not, we can get our thoughts under control by exercising a little spiritual muscle. It is possible to decrease our fear and worry by choosing to focus our minds on the positive things Gods put in our lives.

Keeping in front of you, for example, the ways God has kept blessing my life after years of Lost Son level detachedness and debauchery helps me remember that no matter what Im worried about today, I know that God still loves me and want to be with me. This process of remembering and expressing gratitude is how Ive learned to apply this scripture to my life whenever my worries are threatening to take over my thoughts and actions.
