What Is The Das Pass Or Card
Disneys Disability Access Service, also called the DAS or sometimes referred to as the Disney disability pass, is the name for the system in place designed to provide assistance for guests and families with disabilities navigate and enjoy the parks. The pass or card portion of the name is leftover lingo from a time when guests were provided with a paper or plastic card to use in the program. Today, the DAS is fully digital and integrated into the resorts wristband or park pass identification, so no additional card or media is needed.
When you are assigned the DAS, it is good for the entire length of your stay . For Florida or Annual passholders, a DAS is good for up to 60 days.
The Va Rates All Service
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs rates all service-connected disabilities, including mental disabilities, according to the VA’s Schedule of Rating Disabilities.
Once the VA has determined that your mental health condition is related to your military service, it will rate your condition based on how severe it is. The VA will look to your medical records to determine how severe your clinical symptoms are.

Va Disability Ratings Are Not Always Permanent
Many disability ratings are temporary. The VA retains the right to reexamine your disability rating at any time. If they wish to reexamine you, you will receive a Notice of Reexamination letter in the mail which will include a scheduled appointment date.
Make sure you attend this appointment or reschedule, as the VA can reduce or terminate your benefits rating if you fail to attend this scheduled appointment. After the VA reexamines your condition, they will make a recommendation to increase, decrease, or leave your benefit at its current rating.
There are times when your ratings may be protected, based on the type of disability, how long you have held the rating, your age or other factors.

What If The Veteran Cannot Work Due To Post
Another way to earn a 100% PTSD rating is for the veteran to receive unemployability for his PTSD. Unemployability is not on the PTSD rating schedule. IU is a way for the veteran to receive 100% without meeting all the requirements on the 100% rating.
The VA grants IU ratings when a veteran cannot work due to his service-connected disabilities. When the VA gives an Unemployability rating for PTSD, it means a veteran cannot work due to his PTSD. As a result, a veteran receives a 100% PTSD rating due to unemployability.

Diagnosing Ptsd During A C& p Exam
VA uses criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition to evaluate whether there is a valid diagnosis of PTSD. This diagnostic criteria section of the DBQ is broken down into six categories . The subsequent section lists additional symptoms related to PTSD. Assuming a veteran meets all the criteria from the DSM-V necessary for a PTSD diagnosis, the symptoms section of the DBQ will then help determine an appropriate disability evaluation.
Another important section of the DBQ addresses the veterans level of occupational and social impairment. Here, the level of impairment due to PTSD ranges from no diagnosis to total occupational and social impairment, with various levels in between. Veterans should be honest and forthcoming about how their PTSD affects their everyday life. Doing so will further help the examiner see the full extent of the condition.
The Va Ptsd Rating Criteria Is Not A Complete List Of Ptsd Symptoms
Remember that the list of symptoms on this list are not meant to be every possible symptom.
If you have symptoms, or manifestations of symptoms of your PTSD that are not on this list , see which ones on the list are similar to yours. And then make that argument that your symptom is like such-and-such a symptom of the 70% rating.

eCFR Title 38, Part 4, the Schedule for RatingDisabilities lists the general rating formula for all mental disorders,including PTSD.
PTSD is rated on a scale from 0 percent to 100percent, with breaks at 10, 30, 50, and 70.
The 70 VA disability for PTSD rating has fairly severe occupational and social impairment criteria and includes symptoms as follows.
Understanding Va Ptsd Ratings
The VA rating formula goes from zero percent to 100 percent in increments of 10. Not every disability includes each rating percentage. For example, a veterans PTSD can be rated at 0, 10, 30, 50, 70, or 100 percent debilitating.
A zero percent rating means that PTSD has been diagnosed. The symptoms, however, are not severe enough to interfere with work or social functioning or to require continuous medication. A 100% rating is for total occupational and social impairment due to specified symptoms.

Disability Ratings Are Awarded On A Case By Case Basis
To rate a disability claim, the VA first tries to determine whether or not you sustained your illness or injury in military service. Then, they assign a rating for each illness or injury.
If the VA determines your injury or illness isnt related to your military service or didnt happen while you were in the military, they will deny your claim. If the VA approves your claim, they will assign it a rating between 0% 100%.
A 0% rating shows there is an illness or injury that is connected to your military service, but it doesnt warrant compensation at this time. It is still good to get a 0% rating compared to no service-connected link because if the condition worsens at a later date, you can apply to have your disability rating upgraded.
Two Rules For The Ptsd Rating Scale
According to §4.126, evaluation of disability from mental disorders, the RVSR is required to consider these two rules:
#1. When evaluating PTSD, the rating agency shall consider the frequency, severity, and duration of psychiatric symptoms, the length of remissions, and the veterans capacity for adjustment during periods of remission.
The rating agency shall assign an evaluationbased on all the evidence of record that bears on occupational and socialimpairment rather than solely on the examiners assessment of the level ofdisability now of the examination.
#2. When evaluating the level of disability for PTSD, the rating agency will consider the extent of social impairment but shall not assign an evaluation solely based on social impairment.

How Do I Apply For Va Disability Benefits
The Department of Veterans Affairs recommends eligible Veterans apply for disability compensation benefits through the VA’s eBenefits online portal. However, Veterans may also apply by mail with VA Form 21-526EZ, in person at your regional benefits office, or with help from a trained professional.
In any case, you will need access to your DD214 , the medical evidence of the disability, and dependency records .
If you have yet to separate from service, you may still apply using the Benefits Delivery at Discharge program. To be eligible for the BDD, you must:
- Be on full-time active duty , and
- Have a known separation date, and
- Your separation date is in the next 90 to 180 days
If you have less than 90 days until separation, you may still file a fully developed or standard claim.
Who Should I Contact If I Have Questions About My Disability Rating
There are many organizations that specialize in helping veterans with their benefits and claims.
The first place to start is with the VA. VA representatives have access to your records and are the best source for up-to-date information.
However, the VA isnt always the best place to get assistance with your claim, especially if you are filing an appeal after the VA denied your claim. In that case, I recommend contacting a veteran benefits counselor at your county VA office, or an organization such as the DAV, AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, or a similar Veteran Service Organization.
You can also use the Physical Evaluation Board Forum to anonymously ask questions about VA disabilities, ratings and the military medical board process.
If that doesnt work, consider hiring a lawyer that specializes in VA disability claims. I dont have any specific recommendations for lawyers, so please do your research before hiring a law office to represent you. At the minimum, you will want to ensure they specialize in military law, VA disability claims, social security disability claims, or similar types of law. As with all legal agreements, also make sure you understand the compensation structure.

What Is The Va Ptsd Rating Criteria
Over 800,000 veterans receive VA compensation for some level of PTSD symptoms. The specific benefits are determined according to 38 CFR 4.126, a policy for evaluating disability from mental disorders. This policy requires the VA rating official to consider two rules when assigning a value:
- The rating agency must consider the frequency, duration, and severity of psychiatric symptoms, length of remissions, and veterans capacity for adjustment during remission. The rating agency is required to assign an evaluation primarily based on evidence of an individuals social and occupational impairment as opposed to the examiners snapshot assessment.
- The rating agency will consider aspects of social impairment, but the evaluation may not be based solely on social impairment. Occupational impairment is the primary concern of the VA.
From these rules, the VA provides a rating based on the symptoms and severity of impairment. The VA PTSD rating criteria are as follows:
Before receiving a rating, it is important for a veteran to confirm whether or not they qualify for PTSD benefits.
Va Rating Going From 50 To 70
The difference in monthly payment rates from 50 to 70 VA disability rating can be considerable. In addition, a higher combined total evaluation increases the chances of receiving a total disability rating based on individual unemployability if you are unable to work due to your service-connected disabilities.
In general, there are two ways to get your overall disabilities increased to 70 percent.
First, you can get a single disability rating increased. This method is most likely to succeed with a mental health claim. If you are already service-connected for a mental health condition, or if you are just now applying for service connection for a mental health condition, you will need to show deficiencies in most areas. Those deficiencies can include disturbances of motivation and mood, sleep problems, panic attacks, flashbacks, hallucinations, and suicidal and/or homicidal ideation.
Second, you can get a combined total evaluation of 70 percent. The VA does not add up your percentages to reach the combined total evaluation. Rather, they multiply them together, so this method can require multiple disabilities to be increased to reach 70 percent. You can also seek service connection for additional disabilities. For example, if you have sleep apnea and use a C-PAP machine, you may receive a 50 percent evaluation for that condition alone.

Does 70 Percent Disability Make Veterans Eligible For Individual Unemployability
TDIU is special monthly compensation available for veterans who cannot obtain or maintain gainful employment due to one or more disabilities with a service connection. If the VA grants TDIU, it will pay veterans at a 100 percent disability rate even if the initial disability rating or combined ratings was less than 100 percent. For purposes of this benefit, the VA defines substantially gainful employment as the ability to earn more than the federal poverty rate of $12,000 per year for one person.
