When It Can Be Placed
The appropriate timing for Kyleena insertion depends on several factors. These include whether or not youve:
- been using certain other birth control methods
- had a recent abortion or miscarriage, and in which trimester of pregnancy it happened
- recently given birth
Kyleena can be inserted any time your healthcare provider is able to determine that youre not pregnant. For example, your healthcare provider may be able to insert Kyleena:
- during the first 7 days of your menstrual cycle*
- right after an abortion or miscarriage that occurred during the first 3 months of pregnancy
- at least 6 weeks after an abortion or miscarriage that occurred during the third to the sixth month of pregnancy
- at least 6 weeks after childbirth
Before placing Kyleena, your healthcare provider may have you take a pregnancy test. This way, they can make sure youre not pregnant before inserting Kyleena into your uterus.
Talk with your doctor about the best time for you to start using Kyleena.
* Your menstrual cycle begins on the first day of a period. In other words, day 1 of your menstrual cycle is the first day you have period bleeding.

What About Ella Is It The Same As Plan B
Not exactly. Ella is another brand of emergency contraception that contains ulipristal acetate. Ella is only available by prescription, and it is recommended to take only once during a menstrual cycle. There have not been adequate studies to know if ulipristal acetate is safe or effective to take several times during a cycle. Taking Ella alongside Plan B can cancel the effectiveness of both.
Research says that the primary function of Plan B is to interfere with ovulation, which can prevent fertilization. If a woman has unprotected sex after ovulation and takes Plan B, studies show that taking Plan B doesnt lower a womans chance of getting pregnant.
Similarly, Ella interferes with ovulation, and studies have indicated that it can alter the endometrium, or the uterine lining. Its inconclusive if this could prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. However, studies agree that neither emergency contraceptive will terminate an established, active pregnancy.

Kyleena and certain medications that affect how your body metabolizes Kyleena
Certain drugs can affect how your body metabolizes levonorgestrel, which is the active drug in Kyleena. We describe these possible interactions below.
However, Kyleena is released directly into your uterus, so the drug is less likely to be affected in how its broken down. This means the drugs listed below are at a low risk of affecting how Kyleena works.
Kyleena and CYP3A4 inhibitors
CYP3A4 inhibitors are a group of drugs that inhibit the activity of an enzyme called CYP3A4. Your body uses this enzyme to break down levonorgestrel.
Blocking CYP3A4 can raise the level of levonorgestrel in your blood. And this can increase your risk of side effects from Kyleena.

How Do You Know Whether Its Going To Have A Positive Or Negative Effect
Every person has varying hormone levels and bodily reactions, so its hard to say for certain.
Theres no way of predicting how youll feel on both, Lee says. The only way to know is to try.
However, there are a few pointers to stick to.
First, Lee says, its always important to check carefully if its safe to take any regular medication at the same time as using hormonal contraception.
Then, its best to introduce one new drug at a time. Otherwise, if you start two or more drugs at the same time, it can be difficult if you get side effects to know which one is the culprit.

Lee adds that most side effects of the oral contraceptive pill are mild and disappear within a few months of starting.

How Does Pregnancy Occur
Pregnancy occurs when a females egg is fertilized by a males sperm.
Eggs are released from your ovary each month during ovulation. After an egg has been fertilized, it travels from your fallopian tubes into your uterus. There, it implants in the tissue that lines your uterus. If the fertilized egg implants successfully, pregnancy results.

Do I Start The Pill In The Red Section
It does not matter if you take it before or after food. Each blister pack is marked with the day of the week. Take your first tablet from the red area on the blister pack corresponding to the day of the week. Follow the direction of the arrows on the blister pack until all the tablets have been taken.
What About Sexually Transmitted Diseases
It’s also worth noting that if you have had unprotected sex, you could have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection, so it’s a very good idea to book in for a check up at your local sexual health clinic before having sex again.
The unfortunate reality is that accidental unprotected sex can be stressful enough without the added hormones, so be kind to yourself and try and confide in someone you trust and ask for support.

When To Take A Dose
People call it the morning-after pill for a reason: Plan B works best when you take it as soon as possible after having sex without a barrier method.
If you take those pills within 3 days, youll have a 75 to 89 percent chance of not getting pregnant. And while you can technically wait as long as 5 days, the quicker you move, the better.
A single dose of Plan B consists of two pills that you take within a day. Take the first pill ASAP and the second one 12 hours later. And then thats it. Youre done!
The only exception? If you happen to puke within 2 hours of taking one pill , youll want to call your doc. They might recommend that you take another dose.
When Can You Take The Morning After Pill
First up, you will need to take the pill as soon as possible after you have unprotected sex – the longer you leave it, the less effective it is. The most commonly available pill, Levonelle, can be taken within three days of unprotected sex, and another pill, ellaOne, can be taken up to five days after.

What Is An Anxiety Disorder
Feeling anxious, or having anxiety is a typical response to a stressful situation, and it can sometimes be beneficial. Anxiety alerts someone to danger and compels them to be aware of their situation and take action to keep themselves out of harms way. But an anxiety disorder is a different matter entirely.
An anxiety disorder is when someone feels intense fear or stress about a future concern, and anxiety disorders are usually characterized by avoidant behaviors and physical symptoms that interfere with a persons daily functioning. An anxiety disorder can cause someone to avoid normal situations, and the symptoms can significantly interfere with a persons work, school, and personal relationships.
For a person to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, their fears must be considered out-of-proportion to the situation, not age appropriate, and also impair the persons ability to function normally. There are different types of anxiety disorders:

- Agoraphobia
Anxiety disorders are incredibly common and will affect up to 30% of all U.S. adults at some point in their lives. Anxiety disorders, although they are common and the symptoms debilitating, are highly treatable. A combination of medications and talk therapy can treat most cases of anxiety. In the mid-nineties, the World Health Organization began to realize that increased access to routine methods of contraception led to increased rates of abortion. So a new method of post-coital contraception was zealously sought and promoted: the morning-after pill.1
WHO Studies Is Plan B Bad For You?
Despite subsequent WHO studies which described routine post-coital contraception as unsuitable primarily because of the high incidence of cycle disturbances,2 efforts to approve and market MAP globally continued. Today, these efforts have washed up on our shores, in the form of Womens Capital Corporation/Barr Laboratories application to the FDA to approve MAP for over-the-counter distribution. Womens Capital Corporation is the manufacturer of the Plan B morning-after pill.
As the evidence shows, these efforts are motivated by ideology and profit, not by concern for the health and well being of women.
Risks Ignored Adverse Affects of Morning After Pill
The international abortion community made MAP a routine part of its emergency health battery for displaced peoples. In Albania, a prominent clinic director lamented that young people especially use it every time they have sexual intercourse.9

Like I mentioned, my experience with Plan B was pretty much effortless, which shocked me, because I was expecting the worst. Based on what I’d heard through the grapevine, I thought that feeling exhausted and crampy was a definite, so I bought a giant bottle of Advil and canceled my evening plans figuring I’d feel like death for at least a day. But I’ve taken Plan B half a dozen times over the course of my life now and have literally experienced zero side effects.
This is not to say that Plan B side effects are a total lie it’s just that everyone’s body is different, and you likely won’t have the exact same experience as anyone you know .
Don’t worryâPlan B is easier to come by than you might think. You can find it at major drugstores and retailers like Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and RiteAid. You can also get it at Planned Parenthood. You don’t need a prescription you don’t need to be over 18. If the morning-after pill is locked up or behind the counter, you might have to ask the pharmacist or an employee to grab it for youâbut again, you don’t need a prescription or to show them your ID.
Plan B One-Step will run you between $40 and $50. There are also a couple of other morning-after pill brands called Take Action and My Way, which generally cost less .

Plan B: Absorption Metabolism Excretion
Following oral administration of Plan B, its synthetic steroid levonorgestrel is rapidly absorbed with a bioavailability of approximately 100%. In around 1.6 hours after ingestion, plasma concentrations of levonorgestrel peak at approximately 14.1 ng/ml. Up to 99% of levonorgestrel binds to plasma proteins, particularly sex hormone binding globulin and albumin, and is distributed at a volume of 1.8 liters per kilogram.
Unlike many pharmaceutical drugs, it is not subject to extensive hepatic first-pass metabolism. However, some of the levonorgestrel is broken down by CYP450 isoenzymes and undergoes reduction of the delta-4 and 3-oxo group, as well as hydroxylation at 2-alpha, 1-beta, and 16-beta positions. This is followed by conjugation at the 17-beta-OH position to facilitate formation of sulfates and glucuronides.
In humans, the notable metabolites within plasma derived from levonorgestrel include sulfates:
- 3-alpha,5-beta-tetrahydrolevonorgestrel
- 3-alpha,5-alpha-tetrahydrolevonorgestrel
- 16-beta-hydroxynorgestrel
The combination of these three metabolites is equal to less than 10% of parent levels within the plasma. These metabolites are then subject to renal excretion, with 45% being eliminated within urine and 32% within feces. Systemic plasma elimination of Plan B should take around 5.59 days, but complete excretion via urine and feces may exceed this duration. Most users taking Plan B once should expect to have fully excreted the drug in under 2 weeks.
Should I Take 2 Plan B Pills
While theres no limit to how many times you can take Plan B, that doesnt mean you should treat it like a standard birth control pill that you take regularly. You only need one dose of Plan B for each episode of unprotected sex. Taking more than one dose wont increase your chances of avoiding pregnancy.

Can Birth Control Pills Cause Depression And Mood Swings
Many women may be experiencing depression and mood swings while taking birth control. But does that mean that your birth control pills are the root cause of your depression? Most newer research suggests that this is not the case. However we cannot accurately say that birth control causing depression is a total myth there is conflicting evidence. Kyleena is a birth control method thats FDA-approved to prevent pregnancy in females of childbearing age. Childbearing age is the time during which a female is able to become pregnant. It begins when she gets her first period, and it ends at the time of menopause. This time span usually occurs between ages 12 years and 51 years.
Kyleena is a type of birth control called an intrauterine device . IUDs are inserted into your uterus by a healthcare provider. Kyleena can be used by both females who havent been pregnant in the past and those who have.
Each Kyleena IUD is approved to prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years. After 5 years, its no longer effective to prevent pregnancy. Your doctor can remove Kyleena from your uterus after its no longer effective or whenever youd like to stop using it within the 5-year period.
If you and your doctor determine that Kyleena is safe and effective for you, you can continue using this drug for longer than 5 years. However, in that case, youd need to have your Kyleena IUD replaced every 5 years. This is because each Kyleena IUD is only effective for up to 5 years.
